Oxidants and Antioxidants

What exactly is oxidation?

To explain this let’s use a typical oxidation process. You have seen oxidation of metals. Iron gets rusty, aluminum gets a white film, copper turns green. That’s what happens when elements such as air and water exert their forces.

The same thing happens in our bodies. Just by breathing you are creating oxidants. Oxidants are also known as “free radicals”.

A free radical is an atom or group of atoms that has at least
one unpaired electron, which means it’s highly unstable and highly reactive.

How do free radicals cause damage?

Free radicals destroy tissue in search of electrons. They damage tissue by “stealing” electrons from your body’s cells.

Mother Nature knew this would happen, so foods high in antioxidants became abundantly available.

Where are antioxidants and how do you find them?

Fresh, raw, naturally matured and ripened fruit and vegetables are where antioxidants are found. Unfortunately, in the last century modern farming methods have degraded the natural “chemo-preventive” properties of fruits and vegetables. Unfortunately, also, modern food processing methods have managed to strip out all the health benefits of most of our foods.

Our hectic, busy lifestyles are also doing us in. Not eating fresh, raw, naturally matured and ripened fruits and vegetables is causing premature aging, chronic health problems, and even terrible conditions such as cancer. It’s so much easier to pull a box out of the cupboard and create an instant meal – totally devoid of any healthy content, than it is to take the time to prepare healthy natural meals.

How do anitoxidants work?

Antioxidants, also known as phytochemicals or phytonutrients, sacrifice themselves by donating an electron to free radicals. In other words, the more antioxidants you have in your bloodstream, donating electrons and neutralizing these free radicals, the healthier you will be.

What are the benefits of anti-oxidants?

  • Will help rebuild a strong healthy immune system.
  • Will radically improve digestion.
  • Will slow down the aging process. The inevitable wrinkled skin,
age spots, sore joints, and lack of energy can be substantially reduced.
  • Will dramatically improve mental clarity.

Many doctors today are recommending that their patients start using a juicer to promote health. But, there are problems associated with juicing.

  • The juicer machines are very expensive.
  • The quality of the fruit and vegetables may not be optimum.
Most fruit and vegetables are picked way before they have matured,
get coated with waxes for preservation, may have pesticides in or on them,
get zapped with radiation to induce a ripened look, and other tortures.
  • Shopping for good quality fruits and vegetables can be very time consuming.
  • Cleaning, washing, and preparing the fruits and vegetables can be
very time consuming and tedious, as well.
  • Cleaning up the mess is a royal pain. The juicers themselves are hard to clean and make a terrible mess.

So, what is the solution? How do you get these all important anti-oxidants?

There are a couple of solutions.

One is to buy already prepared juice in bottles. This is not a perfect solution as all of these juices have either been pasteurized – which totally kills off most of the benefits of the fruit, have had preservatives added – which degrades the quality, or have sucrose, fructose, or some artificial sweetening
compound added to make them taste any good.

Also, adding water to these fruit concentrates, adds to the weight thereby
increasing the shipping costs. Liquid fruit juices, cannot be shipped affordably throughout the world, so their availability is restricted to North America, and sometimes even only the USA.

The second solution is perfect. What if there was a way to dry the fruits and vegetables without using “spray-drying”, and preserve ALL the essential benefits of the fruit and vegetable pulp?

There is! And you can read all about it here:
